Randolph County Divorce Records
Randolph County divorce records are court documents created when a divorce case is filed and resolved in the county’s District Court; the Randolph County Clerk of Superior Court maintains these files. Since North Carolina treats divorces as a civil family-law matter, these records are part of the county’s family court system rather than a separate records office.
North Carolina divorce records are generally public, though access may be limited by law or court order in certain situations. A divorce case file may include the parties’ names, the case number, filing date, motions and other court papers, hearing information, and the final judgment for absolute divorce or other decree entered by the court. Requesters may obtain a copy of a divorce judgment from the clerk of the court in the county where the divorce was granted. At the same time, they may receive divorce certificates through the register of deeds or the N.C. Vital Records.
For access, inquirers may search case information through the Judicial Branch’s public court record systems. They may also obtain complete case files or certified copies through the Randolph County Clerk of Superior Court during office hours.
